About the Film

River Ichamati is located at the border of India and Bangladesh and has witnessed brutalities of partition. No one is allowed to cross the river to meet their family without a passport. The film, made after 75 years of partition, traces both Hindu and Muslim Bengali and Munda indigenous people on both sides of the river and how they still bear wounds of the partition, and how they try to survive.

About the Director

Habibur Rahman, an accomplished filmmaker with a BA in Film & Media from Stamford University in Bangladesh, excels in both fiction and documentary. His debut short documentary, 'Aiaoo (Alas!)', secured the Best Documentary Filmmaker award at the National Documentary Film Festival Bangladesh in 2013. The independent short fiction film, 'Land of Sadness' (2015), earned recognition in festivals within and beyond Bangladesh. Notably, his debut feature fiction film, 'Circle of Desire' (2021), is the first 3D Bengali-language cinema. Rahman, beyond filmmaking, engages as a writer and film society activist.
