About the film
Fatima escaped the red-light area of Forbesganj and became an activist, challenging trafficking there. As we follow her personal ups and downs, of sending her children to school, falling in love again, and trying to start a new family, we find out more about why she fights against the abuse and exploitation that has become systemic in her community.
About the director
Sourabh Kanti Dutta is a history graduate and a self-taught filmmaker. His directorial debut, 'I am Bonnie' – on the tragedies, aspirations, and achievements of an intersex footballer in West Bengal, India – premiered at the BFI Flare, London in 2016, and won the National Film Award in India in 2017. It won the Jury Award at Mumbai International Film Festival 2018 and the Best Documentary Award at the Kolkata International Film Festival 2017. 'Fatima' is his second documentary feature.
