About the film
The Third Eye and Chambal Media present City Girls, a short documentary that spends time with Umra and Kulsum, who have moved to India’s national capital, New Delhi, from Banda, a small town in Uttar Pradesh. The relationship between small town and city comes through the intimate lives of these young women, navigating selfhood that the anonymity of a big city produces. The film attempts to deconstruct the image of ‘the city’ and what it means for girls and women brought up in an 'elsewhere’.
About the director
An independent documentary filmmaker and television producer based in New Delhi, Priya’s body of work has focused on women and gender, her stories windows into myriad experiences of the body, the environment, the community, mapped from a gendered and feminist perspective. Priya has been directing, producing and editing documentary films & television programmes for New Delhi Television, Fox Traveller, CNA, National Human Rights Commission of India, Films Division of India, Public Service Broadcasting Trust & Khabar Lahariya for over a decade now. Priya is currently an Executive Producer at Chambal Media.
