About the film

The film revolves around the death of a rebel son, after which his friends gather and travel all along Kerala’s coast in a long and arduous journey to his village to inform his mother of the death of her son. A number of feature films have been made on the radical left movement by master filmmakers in India. Among them John was a filmmaker who came from within the movement. He made this film when the movement had retreated under severe repression. In the journey of the people who gather to bring the message to the Mother, John seems to seek out revolutionary possibilities in everyday struggles and to piece together the shattered dreams once again.
