About the film

Palaikuli is a village in Musali South, a region that was affected by the 30-year-old Civil War in Sri Lanka. 'Amid the Villus, the Story of Palaikuli' is about the return of displaced people to their former homes, after twenty odd years. On their return, they find themselves locked in a battle with the State, its bureaucracies and other agencies. The film is about places, people, work and survival. About understanding place as history, memory, joy, adversity and struggle.
