About the film

A man, now widowed, consumed by the daily affairs of his life, is trying to find some peace. The CAA-NRC riots have devastated his life. From being a family of three, he is now the sole member. Listless, the trauma that festers inside him takes him back to haunting memories. He tries to sell his house, but government diktat means that his struggles are never-ending. The world is seemingly solid around him, but underneath—empty, screeching and wailing. The film explores the aftermath of communal riots and the struggle of an individual to survive when the world moves unaffected.

About the director

Deependra Kumar Yadav is a student filmmaker currently pursuing his Master of Design in Film and Video Communication at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. 'Aalam' is his debut short fiction film.
