ABOUT THE FILM
In the wake of a devastating war, Maari, a resilient mother, clings to the unwavering hope that her husband, missing since the conflict, will one day return. Her steadfast faith collides with the pragmatic approach of her son, Nalan, who seeks a more practical and stable future. The narrative unfolds as they confront the mysterious disappearance of their loved one and embark on a poignant quest to obtain a death certificate.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Dinesh Balasri, a 26-year-old filmmaker from Sri Lanka, discovered his passion for storytelling very early in life. Over the past years, he has independently produced a series of short films, including ‘Jokers’ and ‘The Dolls’, which won acclaim at national competitions. In 2021, his film ‘The Way to Home’ was screened at several prestigious festivals, and he was selected for the Goethe Institut Film Talents Voices from Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
