DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Shape of Momo explores how women internalize and sometimes challenge the systems that bind them. Inspired by personal memories and observations, the film reflects on the gender divide I witnessed growing up — where women waited to eat until men had finished, reflecting my grandfather’s belief in male superiority. After my father’s passing, I took on tasks traditionally done by men to show our strength, not realizing these actions couldn’t undo years of societal norms. Through a multi-generational female family, the film examines identity, freedom and tradition, highlighting the tension between women’s ambitions and societal expectations. My aim is to portray these women as complex individuals, not just victims of patriarchy.
