The film explores Mumbai’s railway system through Vivek and Jayprakash—the two platform vendors whose lives mirror the evolving ethos of the railways. The film illuminates their personal challenges amidst the broader socio-political transformation of the nation.
ABOUT THE DIRECTORS
The filmmaking team comprises of Master’s students from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Devashish, Isha Tomar, Niv, Rituraj, and Samuel Venkatesh hail from different states of India (Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar and Tamil Nadu).
DIRECTORS’ STATEMENT
“During the course of filming, what we encountered was completely unexpected. The film shifted from a simple exploration of trains and commuters to a deeper look at the spirit of Mumbai’s railways and, more importantly, a slow but inherent shift that was slowly clawing in. It is, of all things, a precursor to the changes sweeping across the nation.”
