Tathagata Ghosh, a Berlinale Talents alumnus, believes in telling stories of people from different social backgrounds. His short films ‘Miss Man’, ‘Footprints’, ‘The Scapegoat’, ‘The Meat’ and ‘The Demon’ have travelled to numerous international film festivals and have won several awards.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
“It has been a while since homosexuality was decriminalized in my country. But little has changed. People are still scared to come out. Acceptance seems like a distant dream. It troubles me deeply to see my queer friends getting separated from their families after they were disowned by the very people they grew up around. We failed them as a society. ‘If’ was born from that deep despair.”
