About the film

The Cake Story is a heart-warming tale of Monu and his father who are left to spend the day with each other on his birthday. A series of hilarious goof ups since the morning ends up with the father forgetting to carry the bill with the address of the bakery from where the mother had ordered the cake. With the mother’s phone being out of range and father’s phone drained out of battery the only option they are left with is to continue the search with the obscure landmarks and references provided by Monu.

Director’s Note

Childhood and old age has always fascinated me. I love how similar these two stages are in a human’s life . . . that brings life to a full circle. The idea of my film The Cake Story germinated from my memories with my grandma and my close interaction with children when I was teaching in my mother’s school during my college vacations as a young girl. Through the narrative, I have tried explore the innocence of childhood and old age.
